Merry Christmas to All!

Just remember: your great Christmas happens because someone made it happen. Thank someone today! And put the baby Jesus in the manger. Because, really, He made it happen in the first place.

Do You Hear What I Hear? Part Two

Not the collective sigh of relief that permeated the district yesterday as the cherubs - full of holiday cheer and cupcake sugar - boarded different modes of transportation and got the hell out of dodge - but the gasp of shock and outright outrage at the superintendent of our district who had sent us an email prohibiting us from speaking with a certain reporter from our local newspaper. Right before he, and the board of education, sent us holiday greetings telling us how wonderful we were. Delete.

This reporter has been at odds with the superintendent and the board forever, as has the local paper. I've had the opportunity to speak with him about our paycut and our step freeze - and I have found it refreshing to have someone on our side. For heaven's sake, the legislative representives for our district, at a meeting this week honoring the local bodies of education, told our board that they had a huge number of outstanding teachers, but that got lost because the board was "out of control" and had an agenda all its own. Pow.

I have no idea what caused this action on the part of the superintendent - something happened at the board meeting and the superintendent sent out this email.

After I checked my pocket copy of the Constitution and the attorney I sleep with, I am pretty certain I don't get told by my employers who to talk to. I am sure someone's going to get fired, but in the long run, that someone is going to prevail. BIG time. And I want to watch as the superintendent and the board have to eat it.

That might be the best Christmas present of all.

Do You Hear What I Hear?

  • Down hill slide to Christmas vacation.
  • Thank goodness.
  • I hate the last day before vacation starts. I hate the party day. Hate.It.
  • Last night was the Christmas cantata - of course, Choir Guy had to be sarcastic and condescending on rehearsal night, but this year, some folks stood up and said that we got it, and we'd be there for the program and it would be phenomenal. And guess what? It was!
  • I'm taking the day today! I had planned on being sick, but now, I think I have to go to a funeral.
  • Great.
  • I still have tons of things to do that I didn't get to yesterday because I was at church. (see above.)
  • Let's get this week started, so we can get the worst part of it over.

Do You See What I See?

My Christmas tree is ten feet tall. I can't think about anything else, right now, because, well, I'm being dwarfed by a huge (HUGE) tree. Seriously. I have to climb on a real ladder to hang ornaments.

I was coerced by a sentimental high school Varsity cheerleader senior girl, whose football team lost in the semifinals on Friday night, and her younger sister, that the only thing they really wanted for Christmas was a ginormous tree. So, here we sit, by a tree covered in 900 lights that really could use some more.

Next year, we are getting a bonsai tree.
