Training Day
I met with the trainer today. My church has a huge "family life center" that I have used in the past (read: before children) but since I have fallen slam apart, I decided that during this spring break week, I would hit the treadmill everyday and then I made an appointment with one of the weight trainers.
Well, how do you do, WeightTrainerGuy. Let me just start by saying that he said that food was not our enemy.
Tell me more. Much, much more.
And then he wanted to know how old I was...like in my thirties?
Please. I haven't seen my thirties for ages.
I believe this is the start of a beautiful friendship. Now, he did bust my ass today. I used muscles I didn't realize I had. My hands are even sore. And he told me to try to drink more water, hold off on the processed foods, and eat 25% less. And get in some aerobic exercise 3 - 5 times a week.
Girls, I might be able to do this. After going carbless for three miserable days and counting points (please, I don't want to hear about counting all those freaking points), I have found someone who is speaking my language. I am no longer a stranger in a strange land.

I think I love your new BFF, even if his goal is to make you scream.
The water thing. I used to drink a LOT of water, but when am I supposed to go winky tink while at school? Leave The Geniuses to dismantle the classroom? I think not.
Keep me posted on your progress.
CupcakeL I am with you on the water. In the summer, I can drink with the best of them, but I teach in a trailer without a bathroom. Am I supposed to sprint across a parking lot to the teacher's lounge? Again, I think not.
I am off to the treadmill, rightthisveryminute. Can you believe it? I cannot, either. (and by the way, I am sore, sore, sore this morning.)
Yay for teachergirl! My exercise/weight loss is at a standstill. I hope now that the weather is getting better, I can start walking more everyday! I also think I am going to join our local Y for June and July, if they will let me for such a limited time. That way, I can go everyday and the kids go go to their chilcare section. We shall see.
Hi there! Caught your comment over at Lisa's (Clusterfoook) blog and decided to visit.
If that weight trainer guy is made of chocolate, I do believe that he's the ideal man.
The water thing - try adding a little bit more every day. And then once your body adjusts, go for more. It really does help, especially once summer rolls around full swing.
Welcome aboard, Maggie, and thanks for the advice. Because, I am the kind of person who tries to jump in all at once: 8 glasses of water a day? Then 8 it is and then I pay for it.
Angie: Good luck with that Y thing. It will be worth it just for the childcare. (I'm not that cynical, but there's a lot to be said for quiet.)
