News To Me

I have always been able to check my blog and others on my school computer. Yes, I know that I am not being paid to read my blog and comments and other insightful bloggers when I am supposed to be educating the youth of America. However, if I ever get the opportunity to sit down at my desk and find the internet, I will check my e-mail and my blogging buddies.

Today, all that changed. I found that the firewall would not allow me to check my own blog because somewhere in it, the word screw was found. Screw? Screw what? Screw the firewall. I could just as easily have been writing about the screw in my toolbox.

I couldn't get Cupcake or anyone else at school today. Damned, damned firewall.

I've been told, by some of my favorite future parolees, that this site helps you get around firewalls. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say for sure, but you might want to investigate it. We can't have teachergirl not access her blog!

We can hardly access the Internet it's so damn restricted. SO much is blocked anymore. We have never been able to access blogs, group email like Yahoo, games, etc. Poo on them for taking all our fun away...

The Department of Public Instruction site was blocked on our computers for a time.

We enjoyed the irony.

funnyyyy!!! I check blogs during my lunch hour. I think we are entitled to do so and I also think blogs are teaching resources. At least for me, they are . . where else would I get more things to put in my arsenal.

Cupcake, thanks for sharing your parolees' great detective work.

As Ang said, we can't get jack$#!t on our computers. They'll even block random resources like Laura Candler's site from time to time. Ebay? NEVER!!!!! They are paying someone entirely too much to watch us. Perhaps that person should come out and fix my GD SmartBoard.

I know the feeling....One district I worked in had everything blocked. I could never get the tech man on the phone so I decided to run to central office during my planning period one day. Guess what?? I snuck up on him and he was playing games on yahoo! UG! I can't ever seem to get along with the tech department.

miss a: you are asking me a tech question. All right, let's everyone together laugh out loud. I have no idea how I got the penguin on my page - I didn't know we could minimize her.

And guess what? Today, I was on everybody's blog. No firewalls, no nothing.

There is a penguin on your page? Why isn't it showing up for me?

Now I feel even more insecure than I already did.

Sounds like you need to get a list of proxy sites. Just remember--the Fire Wall Police are never as fast at blocking proxies as a determined in-house blogger! :) BTW, The Scholastic Scribe is back online. Please drop in tomorrow and Share the Caption Love during another HighLARious Silly Summer Sunday Sweepstakes!

Cupcake, Sally the Penguin is at the bottom of my page. Very bottom. You can feed her fish.

absurdly: don't get me started on our tech department. I am surprised they were able to get a firewall up and running. They sent guys out to secure the mouse and the keypad to the hard drive. They were afraid people (teachers) would steal them.
And now melissa b. is speaking a foreign language.

You did not hear this from me but sometimes depending on how your computer is set up if you click on tools, internet options, connections and then click on bypass proxy server, you will still get internet and yet not be blocked by ye old firewall. Just be sure to click it back on when you are done or you might get caught for hacking by the random tech guy (or girl as I frequently get tech jacked to fix some odd teachers computer or TV simply because I KNOW HOW!! NOT like it's my job along with teaching the geniuses all day long!!)
