Rocking Around the Christmas Tree

The girls have decided that the only way to finish decorating the Christmas tree is to do so by playing old 45's on some old record player. Prep said earlier that some music only sounded good on a record - who'd have thunk it? So, right now, I'm listening to the Beatles on 45. Hey Jude never sounded better. Well, not really, but you know what I mean. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na. Skip, skip, skip.

So, Merry Christmas! One more week of school to go. A few more social functions, exam week for the girls and a high school state playoff. I can't wait.

Friday Night's Lights (all of them)

Apparently, we weren't that much trouble. LawyerBoy and I sat in the very back of the away bleachers, under the trees, behind the eighth graders. I had to stand up on my seat to see because everyone in my section was standing up in front of me.

Those trees came in handy when it first started raining; it was the lightning that freaked us out. At halftime, the officials heard that a huge storm was coming our way. They evacuated (yes, those were their words) the stands and we headed for cover. Since it was halftime, LB, BrownBear and I decided to head home. Well, of course, the big storm never made it - and they resumed the game after lots of people left. And, we lost. A crushing defeat. We haven't lost in years.

Maybe next year.

In other news, I joined Weight Watchers. Remember the freshmen forty? That stint in college this summer pushed me over the edge. So, if I am difficult, it is because I am hungry. And I hate losing weight. But BrownBear, is, after all, eleven. I probably should at least lose her baby weight.

Let The Game Begin

The BIG game is tonight. Remember, we're trouble with a capital T? The biggest football game is tonight and it is an away game. Of course, BrownBear and PrepGirl are going, as am I, LawyerBoy and half the city. This is THE big deal. I am about to leave right now for a 7:30 kickoff. Keep me in your thoughts. I love football, but I may have to take a book. I mean, really. What am I going to do for an hour and a half in the stands alone (trust me, those girls are going to desert me and LB will be late)? It is hotter than blazes. And with my luck, we'll get one of those pop up thunderstorms we've been having in the early evening. I need a bleacher buddy. Anybody willing to come sit with me?
